Life gets busy and I forget my need to journal. I’ve severely struggled with the turmoil on social media lately, and even though I still make posts, I tend to make the posts generic and stay off scrolling. I still wish to share some of our lives and my thoughts with family and friends who don’t live close, but it seems everything brings about snarky comments these days and I just don’t have room in my heart for that negativity. So once again, I’m sharing here whether anyone ends up reading it or not. <div><br /></div><div>Many changes have happened this past year. The boys are older and life looks different now. In many ways, I miss littles in my home, and yet, some of the things that come with big kids are kinda fun too. Gods put new people, new paths, and new desires in front of us and I hope you’ll come back to find out what work God is doing in the Allen family!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyrbTy3WVsqtG85WnO1Ef8cX_0e5QxCVxRlSDeo-mp3nJZK2_OSWJR_s_rkmfqpWLLwCO27X3k-TAizOSBr6rKFB8fwxxqlN07JJcCO5ra-SiBqa7ilgyD3LyDlI0WuLldXTRIxwBWpVS5Jx1nXcrjkWTVGLoOL3LriKNHbmkpwbj32q98Jzls_2xzSA/s4032/70602269137__E0E54714-2BA4-4348-8A44-BA4FD8132ECC.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyrbTy3WVsqtG85WnO1Ef8cX_0e5QxCVxRlSDeo-mp3nJZK2_OSWJR_s_rkmfqpWLLwCO27X3k-TAizOSBr6rKFB8fwxxqlN07JJcCO5ra-SiBqa7ilgyD3LyDlI0WuLldXTRIxwBWpVS5Jx1nXcrjkWTVGLoOL3LriKNHbmkpwbj32q98Jzls_2xzSA/s320/70602269137__E0E54714-2BA4-4348-8A44-BA4FD8132ECC.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div>Picture from my morning coffee the other day in my favorite place - our front porch!<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18037390659356833635noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898210779242487921.post-49677218471167199932019-09-23T17:04:00.000-07:002019-09-23T17:04:30.934-07:00Life<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Life. It keeps moving. Whether you post on social media or not, it keeps going, and so has ours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In a little over a month, it will be 2 years since we moved to the country. The story around it is nothing short of a miracle. God undoubtedly moved us out here, and yet I struggle.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I’ve started journaling and found it healing for my soul, so I thought I’d start this blog back up. I’ll be journaling my thoughts, our journey through our medical issues, our reasonings and process behind living simply, and sharing DIYs.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you’ll join me and find some inspiration to live simply and minimalistic, make choices for your health, and even try your hand at some projects for yourself!</div>

<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">I’m a paper and pen sorta gal, but back when I was pregnant with our youngest, the hubbs took over a lot of the care of the house as I was so sick and exhausted. Back then he was not a paper and pen sorta guy at ALL! He quickly started looking for apps to transfer all my lists to. At that point we had just one iPad and one Kindle, so we needed apps that would “talk” to each other. Honestly, he did a good job at finding some great apps. We still use most of them today to some degree. But my favorite app, and the one I have never transferred back to pen and paper, is our grocery list. Seriously, it’s the bees knees!</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxYwW6O8r8HIdN-hHEPhxx_tL6MhIiaqDYln7AaJERiunfqQkO6N3O6N1fCsQ6IzakkOoi2KhHn1GRehwk_KqYn7sPzMOkS1bPB2qWoHkfg0qE8YbbCR40zuF8PCv6rD0Br_5dMQ_hpEdf/s1600/IMG_2429.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxYwW6O8r8HIdN-hHEPhxx_tL6MhIiaqDYln7AaJERiunfqQkO6N3O6N1fCsQ6IzakkOoi2KhHn1GRehwk_KqYn7sPzMOkS1bPB2qWoHkfg0qE8YbbCR40zuF8PCv6rD0Br_5dMQ_hpEdf/s400/IMG_2429.PNG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">The app is called “Our Groceries”. On the home screen you have a list of the stores and when you click on the store it gives you the list for that store. You can also easily move items between lists. Too simple, right?</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">Here are some of the ways we work our lists…</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ Stores - We keep a list for each of the stores we shop at (Costco, Sams, King Soopers, etc.)</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ Wish lists - Each family member has a wish list that we add too and when it’s birthday or Christmas we have an instant gift list!</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ Firehouse - This list is for the hubby to be able to grocery shop at the firehouse without getting those items mixed up with our family grocery list</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ Boys need - I keep a running list of what clothing, etc. the boys are going to need coming up. That way when I’m out and either run across clearance or I’m at Kohls and drawing a blank, I can just look up how many t-shirts and what size they need</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ doTerra - I keep a list of what oils we are getting low on and what I’ll need to order soon</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ RX’s - Because prescriptions and supplements are such a huge part of our lives and with how many we have, it can be a mess keeping track of it all. Whenever we get low on an item I just add it to the list so that when I place an order I don’t miss anything</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ Pen and ink - Ok, this might sound ridiculous, but I keep a list of all the pens and inks I am interested in. It makes a great gift list for me too ;) I’m going to have to add a second list to this soon as my oldest is really into fine pens right now too. He already has 2 fountain pens and a dip pen and is begging for more - I may have created my own little Frankensteins monster! You could change this to be a list for any hobby you are in to. Come to think of it, I really should make a yarn list… And a pattern list…. And….</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">~ Items needed soon - This is actually my favorite list. Not because of what’s on it, but because of how much it has helped keep me organized and within budget. Every time I see that we are running low on something, I add it to this list. When shopping day arrives I can easily see what staples we will need soon. I usually choose 2 to 6 items (depending on the budget that week) to move to the appropriate store list. I don’t run out of staples anymore and I don’t have to buy 30 items in one week because we are out of everything at once and completely blow the budget.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">On the day I plan the menu, I add all the ingredients we will need for each meal to the store list I plan to buy it at. I then choose a handful of staples / items we need soon to max out the budget for that week. Now that both my husband and I have iPhones, the shopping goes really fast. We’ll start at the first store, each with our phones and start getting items. As one of us checks it off the list it will update to the others phone so we can quickly move through the store. When we get in the car, I will move anything we didn’t get to the list for the next store. This process has made shopping day much less stressful and a lot shorter of a day.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></div>
<br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">Another reason I love this app is if we ever stop somewhere unexpectedly, I’ve always got my shopping list with me. It has eliminated so many extra trips to the store because I forgot what was on my list sitting at home. Hubby loves it because there are no more little scraps of paper lying around with my shopping lists on them, ok, I love that reason too!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I actually completed my Mission Board for April!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I limited myself to 3 or 4 items in each category. That gives me about one thing to do each week per category. <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">Everything I wrote down pretty much centers around getting the house packed up / moving / building our new house, just varying aspects of that project.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
On the opposing "Notes & Ramblings" page, I divided it in half. One side is for "occasions", as Corrie TenBooms mom used to call them, and the gifts I am planning for each "occasion". The other half of the page is for "activities" we'd like to do as a family for the month. We are really trying not to get so bead-locked on moving and building that we skip doing fun things as a family or neglect the boys need for interaction.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I'll be jumping on <a href="http://instagram.com/chelseamichal" target="_blank">Instagram</a> later today to share my to-do list for the day and my progress on it, so come <a href="http://instagram.com/chelseamichal" target="_blank">follow me there</a>! Hoping y'all have a productive but stress less day!</div>

Lets start with the log cabin in the star setting that I made the tutorial for.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwxfIIq7QFDASYB3eCxY2fl6bYya3O73TvljwVxeBvUl0mqqnd_HgUcB_jmGvTOwSfYDCY5QA_-lsf07gTQuQdbrksfT9OyviczqeMp103IFg33pmqncJ3O2vRHDDSpa6BC6HdtMUg6WoU/s1600/DSC_2447.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwxfIIq7QFDASYB3eCxY2fl6bYya3O73TvljwVxeBvUl0mqqnd_HgUcB_jmGvTOwSfYDCY5QA_-lsf07gTQuQdbrksfT9OyviczqeMp103IFg33pmqncJ3O2vRHDDSpa6BC6HdtMUg6WoU/s400/DSC_2447.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, I placed the lotus flower pattern made with the arc rulers in each of the purple blocks. A really cool medallion came together in the center! I stippled in the cream background and did a ribbon in the border.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2RZBQouCy1O_ztHLOaRv8CH2FcGbD6FF0g52bo2oDAQMZ4upT2VPv27M-pjhDr8xnHaRyzInXwy7rtiRNsFBLIqdqyChApP9EybyTrvpIs3kOcO_KtiWodpFxNOV9w_Tf1zmnqDNN_PMd/s1600/DSC_2453.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2RZBQouCy1O_ztHLOaRv8CH2FcGbD6FF0g52bo2oDAQMZ4upT2VPv27M-pjhDr8xnHaRyzInXwy7rtiRNsFBLIqdqyChApP9EybyTrvpIs3kOcO_KtiWodpFxNOV9w_Tf1zmnqDNN_PMd/s400/DSC_2453.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Kathi, the maker of this quilt, chose a polar fleece for the backing. It made for some awesome texture on the back! She also used a high loft poly batting which gave dimension to the front as well. I also bound this quilt using my machine binding technique.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

I needed to make a door prize for this past weekends stamp camp. I've been itching to try this new (to me) technique of a colored chalkboard effect so I thought I'd make another one of my mini notebooks. I REALLY like how this turned out! Very dramatic and effective!<div style="text-align: center;">

I find that drawing out my cards can give me a good place to start. Sometimes I keep my original plan all the way through! This card was designed for my second Stamp Camp. Think I will sponge the edges of the cream piece for the rest of the cards. Look for them in my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/bychelseashand" target="_blank">Etsy shop</a> soon!<div style="text-align: center;">

It seems like we've just been running from one thing to the next. We have one more big "event" coming up and then I should be able to post all the things I've been up to. And there've been lots!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/101031757@N07/10031460183/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="#inspiration #finalproduct plate is being used at the ladies lunch my mom-in-love is hosting. <div style="text-align: left;">
So I took inspiration for these little notebooks from the plates my mom-in-law used for her table. The black binding was a perfect match for the black edge of the plate. For the rest of the notebooks I tried to pull colors and elements from the plate to get it to match and then, to keep with the theme of the ladies lunch, I made some gold apples using the Perfectly Preserved and Cannery stamp set and framelits. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the notebooks!</div>

But we've had a project going on - or should I say we've been helping our friends with a project.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5WMk6TYqvSZF5Dd7J6X0_ZZcnV_A4Pt81aUsIfGvGsqM_JmvhsXUKw5RI6Qb9uCZz2zgMgzxtTs1eoA1x2QbBRmPKWfH33H2SLsi8pt4cIYgrkML2hcKMmonc_475I2lQDT5QGicZcs1f/s640/blogger-image--204360313.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5WMk6TYqvSZF5Dd7J6X0_ZZcnV_A4Pt81aUsIfGvGsqM_JmvhsXUKw5RI6Qb9uCZz2zgMgzxtTs1eoA1x2QbBRmPKWfH33H2SLsi8pt4cIYgrkML2hcKMmonc_475I2lQDT5QGicZcs1f/s640/blogger-image--204360313.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivgsUmQ0CW8qV13Gi8B_cYAgYP1dz-CSeg9t2pHPDTisy7MNejh8abTtBrOrZzGzVXCgsCYjoAbM_79jR7L7bAxj5_AqhEeyxgm34NKvM3VluF5ki_D1RAbk1Y0FrmljEpaQw8Q7cHf5k3/s640/blogger-image--1255753355.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivgsUmQ0CW8qV13Gi8B_cYAgYP1dz-CSeg9t2pHPDTisy7MNejh8abTtBrOrZzGzVXCgsCYjoAbM_79jR7L7bAxj5_AqhEeyxgm34NKvM3VluF5ki_D1RAbk1Y0FrmljEpaQw8Q7cHf5k3/s640/blogger-image--1255753355.jpg"></a></div><br>

<div style="text-align: left;">
My long-time friend, Brian, and his sweetheart, Jenny, started putting up a barn and decided to have an old-fashioned barn raisin' wedding! I so wish I had gotten pictures of the reception in the barn but I was having too much fun to think of taking pictures. But here are some pictures of the project I worked on to help them out with the wedding...</div>

I cut over a 100 leaves to make a signature tree instead of a guestbook. My Stampin' Trimmer and Big Shot made quick work of it!<br>

I wish I had gotten pictures of the finished tree - it was AMAZING! I'll ask Jenny for pictures and post them later.<div>

I think I finally found my style - a mix of vintage / victorian and grunge. A little odd, but I love the distressed look and I LOVE lace! Tone on tone is also a favorite. You'll be seeing a lot more of this style coming up.</div>
Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18037390659356833635noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898210779242487921.post-36023538235991295672013-09-05T15:12:00.001-07:002013-09-05T15:12:50.861-07:00From my point of view #2<div style="text-align: left;">
Shane has been showing tremendous interest in using Carter's potty. Every time I change his diaper he will sit up, point to the potty and say something that sounds like a question mark would if it could make a sound. Off comes the diaper, on to the potty we go, play around for a few seconds, clap for trying and put a fresh diaper back on. We've only had potty in the pot once so far, but he's just shy of a year and a half so I'm not worried.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/101031757@N07/9683342590/" title="Laundry day begins with Shanes diapers. And with the return of summer comes the return of my clothes line! #clothesline #clothdiapering #fuzzibunz by chelseamichal, on Flickr"><img alt="Laundry day begins with Shanes diapers. And with the return of summer comes the return of my clothes line! #clothesline #clothdiapering #fuzzibunz" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5335/9683342590_2fc2afecc9.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Jon's completely thrilled. He can hardly wait to get out of diaper duty. But for me it's bittersweet. I've had someone (and at one point both) in diapers for the last almost 4 years. And, since the Lord hasn't seen fit to provide us with another baby at this point, it looks like all the little cloth diapers will be packed away in the not too distant future. I love watching my boys grow up, all the new things they are learning, seeing them finally start to play together. But I am already lamenting empty arms with no baby to cuddle. Maybe the Lord will provide another one, maybe not. I'll miss my diaper bag too ~ how am I going to lug all that extra stuff I've been packing in there for the last several years?....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sorry for all the potty talk, but it is the life of a mom!</div>

Very small. As in 6 family's small. Thankfully, I've been able to join the young ladies fellowship at my in-laws church. They are a wonderful group of ladies and I've enjoyed my time with them and made some good friends. This past months fellowship came with a request ~ bring 6 of any one item to include in a gift bag for the pastors wives. Even though I don't know these ladies, I still wanted to include something handmade. Here's what I came up with....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/101031757@N07/9683000172/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="My part of the pastors wives gift baskets finished! (I'll try to get pics of the finished baskets tonight) #stampinup by chelseamichal, on Flickr"><img alt="My part of the pastors wives gift baskets finished! (I'll try to get pics of the finished baskets tonight) #stampinup" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3761/9683000172_a1d228e2bb.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">©Stampin' Up!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Each gift bag includes a mini composition notebook that I covered in cardstock that I had stamped and two 3x3 note cards with envelopes. I had hoped to have several 3x3 note cards in each gift bag but ran out of time. I was tying up the packages at the last minute! All gift bags are the same, I just did one card in front in half and the other card in the second half.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here are a few close ups of each item in the gift bag.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/101031757@N07/9679760969/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="6 mini notebooks for the pastors wives gift baskets #stampinup by chelseamichal, on Flickr"><img alt="6 mini notebooks for the pastors wives gift baskets #stampinup" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2807/9679760969_71257d8561.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">©Stampin' Up!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
For the most part I like how the notebooks turned out. Given more time I could have done better. Maybe a different color paper?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/101031757@N07/9679759417/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Second in a gift set for 6 pastors wives #stampinup #papillonpotpourri #butterfly #3x3cards by chelseamichal, on Flickr"><img alt="Second in a gift set for 6 pastors wives #stampinup #papillonpotpourri #butterfly #3x3cards" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7453/9679759417_540c2b6713.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">©Stampin' Up!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I really like Stampin' Up's! new <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ItemList.aspx?categoryID=1350" target="_blank">"In Color" for 2013 called Pistachio Pudding</a>. <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/searchresults.aspx" target="_blank">Papillon Potpourri</a> and the co-ordinating punch's, <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=127526" target="_blank">Elegant Butterfly</a> and <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=129406" target="_blank">Bitty Butterfly</a>, have become favorites also.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/101031757@N07/9679758555/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="First in a set of cards for 6 pastors wives #Christmascards #stampinup #3x3cards by chelseamichal, on Flickr"><img alt="First in a set of cards for 6 pastors wives #Christmascards #stampinup #3x3cards" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3784/9679758555_5f0ccc7367.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">©Stampin' Up!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This one, however, ended up with the most visual impact. I rather like it myself ;) I used <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=100867" target="_blank">Night of Navy</a> cardstock and ink, <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=109132" target="_blank">white embossing powder</a> with <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=102283" target="_blank">VersaMark</a> and the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=120907" target="_blank">Decorative Label punch</a> (modified) for the tag. Sadly, the stamp sets (Winter Post and Snow Swirled) are retired.<br />

Did we even eat the second half of August, you ask? Well, yes, we did eat and I did menu plan - I just didn't get around to posting it. Lazy me. I'm about ready to plan and post my next two week menu plan and shopping trip, but I'll just give you a little update.<br />
<div>
We did the whole month of August on $350! And that includes toilet paper and napkins! Which I also buy in bulk at Costco. That may seem a little high for some of you, but we do live in a high cost of living area.<br />

I think I'm in love with my new <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=130919" target="_blank">hexagon punch</a>! These cards were so fast and fun to make - I just punched out several hexagons from random scraps of patterned paper, arranged them how I best thought the colors went together and adhesived the hexi's down. Stamp the greeting and take the card front (in <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=100730" target="_blank">Whisper white</a>) to the sewing machine and stitch around the hexi's and then stitch again just inside the edge of the card. Pull the thread ends to the back, tie and cut off. Adhesive the card fronts to the card base and you're done!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Can't wait to start playing with the <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/searchresults.aspx" target="_blank">Six Sided Sampler</a> stamp set that goes with this punch.</div>

I see two little feet, dangling from Daddy's knee. Two of my sick boy's are sitting over a bowl of steaming water with a towel over their head's, having a conversation - something about numbers. A moment later a rosey cheeked head appears with blonde curls that are slowly getting darker as he gets older. He flashes me a smile as he jumps down and runs away only to return a moment later with two tissues, "I got Kee-next for us, Daddy!" he says, proudly handing one to Dad and keeping one for himself. Some days I am so amazed at how grown up he is and how his personality is developing. He can be so thoughtful and helpful at times anymore!</div>

A late Merry Christmas from our family to yours! And yes, I still have yet to send out my Christmas cards - oops.Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18037390659356833635noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898210779242487921.post-83127572094595872732012-12-31T22:29:00.000-08:002012-12-31T22:29:16.603-08:00A Christmas gift for.... Myself!Remember <a href="http://pursuingthecalling.blogspot.com/2010/11/on-my-wishlist.html" target="_blank">this</a> post? Well, I used my Christmas money and ordered it! The software for my embroidery machine should arrive on Friday, I can hardly wait to get started on some new projects!<br />
I think I was most inspired to expand my embroidery capabilities after making these fleece pillows embroidered with the boys names for them for Christmas.<br />

It was such an easy and rewarding project and it turned out so well. But in making them, I realized how limited I am without having the software. I have so few designs and there just isn't much more I can do with what I currently have. I am really looking forward to being able to download from the multitude of designs on the internet.<br />

Time has passed once again. Shane is 7 1/2 months old and I have yet to finish the thank you notes from his birth and the thank you notes for all the people who showed me kindness during the surgery. Maybe sending 'Thank You Notes' is considered outdated in this day and age, but I still like to let people know that I appreciate what they did for me, that it matters. And so I pick up my pen again and start to scribble. It may take me another 7 1/2 months to finish, but at least each and every person will know that I haven't forgotten the gift, the meal, the prayer, the time they took to write me a note.<br />
